Your Workplace

The Forensic Psychiatry unit works for those who have been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care. Here, we care for individuals who have committed crimes under the influence of severe mental disorder, who according to Swedish law cannot be sentenced to prison. We also care for correctional patients who need psychiatric inpatient care. Our focus is on rehabilitation, habilitation, and good psychiatric nursing. The goal of our operations is to prepare patients for a life in society.

Your Tasks

As a nursing assistant in Forensic Psychiatry, you will work closely with patients providing psychiatric care. Your work will include being part of a team with other nursing assistants, nurses, and doctors. You will also collaborate closely with other interdisciplinary staff such as occupational therapists, social workers, and psychologists.

The nursing work may consist of support conversations, social training, and assistance to patients in their daily lives. The work is planned based on the goals outlined in the patient's care plan. Your duties will include psychiatric nursing planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation in the Cosmic journal system. You will work with patients who are cared for under coercion according to the law on forensic psychiatric care.

Your Knowledge and Competencies

It is desirable that you have a degree from a nursing program with a focus on psychiatric care or another equivalent caregiver education, and preferably experience in psychiatric care. Alternatively, you may be in the process of training in care, treatment, or social work.

Since the work can be unpredictable, it is important that you are attentive and can act flexibly and solution-oriented. You should also be able to handle stressful situations and manage acute events. As teamwork is central to the department, it is important that you have good collaboration skills. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
